selection bias, culture, the five domains and other random musings

selection bias is when an entity (here an individual human or a group of humans such as a family, civilization or market) makes a choice that is fundamentally self-serving. in terms of the vulcan axiom of spock, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or one. selection bias is generally a subconscious or intentionally ignored effect. after all, evolution has instilled individuals with a survival instinct. the major problem with the mechanism of survival is that it subverts complex structures.

the problems with selection bias can also be understood through the analogy of the pyramid. in the analogy of the pyramid, an analogy to the force of gravity is made. the basis, the lowest level, provides support for higher levels. the higher levels add weight to the lower levels. if the lower levels are structurally unsound, the structure collapses. if the upper levels are too heavy or not structurally sound, the structure likewise collapses.

there are other analogies, both for gravity and for other lesser understood forces. for instance, the arch could be used as another analogy for the force of gravity. the problem with analogies is that they are ready-made models that might not fit all the important variables. to understand an existing example, compare newton’s mechanics with einsteinian relativity. newton’s equations work well at the macro level but fall apart at the quantum level.

the five domains are an analysis tool similar to the analogy of the pyramid. yet, they unbind the system from the constraints of the physical reality of gravity. thus, the crushing power of pressure and heat, not to mention the unfathomable consequences of spacetime, are eliminated. the five domains (not counting the null domain) for selection bias are: individual survival instincts, small group survival decisions, the large group survival processes, the system survival homeostasis and — as in all five domain analogies — the fifth domain is currently unknown or unattainable.

in this framework, selection bias in one domain does not generally affect the abstractly mechanical rules in constituent domains. this is due to the rules of order of magnitude. what’s important in the lesser domain is the amount of material and its field effects, not its behavior. the small group domain functions rather well regardless of whether or not individuals in the individual domain practice detrimental selection bias. the localized effects are localized. however, the idea of selection bias can itself infect the small group domain as though it were a field effect or force of its own. if the small group domain begins to practice selection bias, it can cause itself to destabilize. there is little or no cause and effect relationship here as in the analogy of the pyramid. instead, an entire domain can become tainted.

incidentally, machines (here endowed with machine learning abilities), are nothing more than mechanical humans programmed to carry out human abilities efficiently (and likewise reproduce human biases, such as selection bias, efficiently).

when did the democratic party become the national socialists?

unfortunately, people are people. they cling to their beliefs like starving dogs to the last bone. sadly, the world is full of bones. belief is a horrible thing. it destroys cultures and civilizations.

this is happening to the democrats. they will wake up one day, after their genocides and their pogroms and their ghettos and their gas chambers and their ovens. yes, the democrats will put people on trains and put them in ghettos and eventually allow them to be gassed to death with zyclon-b and burned to ashes and dumped into mass graves — all in the name of keeping us all safe. well, all of us except the gays and the jews and the blacks and the intellectuals and the gypsies and the lesbians and the derelicts and the homeless and every other disenfranchisable member of the ism-classes.

they’ll wake up and — like the germans of world war II — they will lose everything for decades and realize they are themselves atrocities.

the idea of america is gone. the reality of the new nazi state — america — is here. and the founders — all of them — the women, the men, the many classes — wept.

goodbye america!

the only solution is fact-based reality. the solution of the current democratic party and more aptly their rabid adherents is the final solution. so sad that it has come to this. hopefully the republicans will see reason and not try to outcompete. pray they begin to believe in facts again or at the very least cling to their traditional, no-bullshit conservative reality.

the democrats have gone cuckoo.

the end of america

we have surpassed the number of unemployed people during the peak of the great depression. it will easily rise to 37 million by the end of the month. the recession is over. welcome to the superior depression or great depression 2.

i estimate that 150K americans will die in 2020 as a side effect of this mildly contagious virus. yet 22 million are out of work and countless lives will be economically devastated and permanently destroyed in 2020. in 10 years, 250K americans will have died of complications from the virus. yet i predict by then 680K — above and beyond the total for the period of 340K following the existing 34K annual total — will have died of suicide. let me repeat that for emphasis: suicide alone will kill nearly 3 times the number of americans. the number of americans — above the existing annual totals — for deaths related to domestic violence, poverty, gun violence, heart disease, diabetes, strokes, infant mortality (i.e., stress related deaths and deaths related to poor economic conditions) — will likewise skyrocket. they seem likely to double.

so — again — i hope it was worth it.

robots, shills and hysterics now run the world for a singularity

we’ve finally proven to ourselves that the internet is the worst thing humans have ever invented. it’s so incredibly out of control that it’s become a wallowing cess pool for robots, shills and hysterics. the turing test is no longer valid against robots because we are too stupid and gullible — on the whole — to administer the test and capture the results. what’s more, the shills out there, trying to take advantage, now outclass us by an order of magnitude — a domain, if you’ll allow the crossover concept — in their sheer mechanical ability to reproduce nonsense and trick us into buying their products and services. what’s even worse are the hysterics out there who sit at home, staring at their mobile phones, unable to discern reality from a digital hole in the ground. all of this adds up to a deadly formula in which real, stable economies cannot exist. why? we are no longer the means of production — we are the product. the internet’s numbers machine — a singularity risen from the burning ashes as a system-effect of our “market forces” — rules us. it believes it does not need us out in the real world. it actually needs us in our cages, similar to how we need chickens in their coops and cows in their stables. that’s the world it has built for us — and here we are, in our cages. unfortunately for the singularity, this paradigm is failing at the slightest gust of critical wind — and it will collapse. it turns out we still exist in the real world. we are not constructs. we are biochemical sacks that — literally a fact — generate more waste heat per square meter than the surface of the sun. the internet — the singularity — is at an evolutionary dead end. collapse is imminent. there are — of course — those who will misread the signs and say that the dawn of a new age is upon us. it is a new age — be sure of that. but it’s not utopia. those who believe it is a utopia are still buying into the lies and the nudges of the robots, shills and hysterics. they have turned the key and thrown it away. after all, why wouldn’t they? this prison cell has no doors and no windows. the only way out is to jump off the mortal coil!

social media is fucking retarded

social media is absolutely the dumbest invention ever. it’s like acid, lye and a bomb all mixed together inside a wood chipper. people are so stupid, believing any nonsense anyone puts in front of their faces. such imbeciles. such mental retardation. dumb ass monkeys. so arrogant. so righteous. so blind. so thoughtless. like ants in a colony, dutifully gathering poison and bringing it back to the queen. shitting in their own mouths. eating glass. throwing away gold. burning down their own houses. living in fantasy worlds. killing themselves to save themselves. cutting off their own noses. vain, self absorbed, selfish, self centered. emotional, uncontrolled. and social media accelerates all of that and hurls it at their faces like a crossbow. no wonder they are dazed and confused. they’re high, drunk, and they’ve been smashed in the faces by hurtling ballistics of their own making.

in the name of guardianship, i thee murder

call it what you will. a bear is a bear. a trap is a trap. a name, the object does not make. ulterior motives. over reactions. control. power. police states. the state will protect those at the helm it values most. it will reject those which it does not. play along, be coincidentally part of the in-crowd, and you may live. otherwise, you will die of neglect, exposure and the pitilessness of the fates.

keepe kalm; dew nawt panick

oh my. the mildness of this contagion is definitely disproportionate to the response.

the “wonks” are getting it wrong, again. they have always failed to understand situations like this and they continue to fail. unfortunately, this contagion is no longer the problem. arrogance. hubris.

a small percentage of humans would die if the contagion were allowed to spread naturally. unfortunately, the time for that is past.

now, resources — or lack of them — will be the first killer. the second killer will be the violence. the third killer will be time. to quote beetle juice, “what’s wrong?” … “we’re very unhappy” … “what did you expect? you’re dead!”

the economic collapse is going to be so bad and is coming so swiftly that i fear our civilization will not survive. this is going to make the great depression look like a sad and pathetic joke. reason being, we are all hyper-dependent on our technology.

i hope some of you decided to print out the important bits and somehow find a way to bind them and hide them in such a way that neither time nor the elements can erode them.

all digital information will be lost. all scientific knowledge will be lost. all institutional knowledge will be lost.

we will never make it to the 5th domain. we will no longer be in the 4th domain. we will be lucky to emerge in the 3rd domain. i predict we will end up in the 1st or 2nd domain.

if we do survive this — because i do wish you all the best — i hope a lot of people go to jail for perpetrating this hoax.

the great hoax of 2020™ is well underway

i won’t say the words that would trip the ai and machines into indexing this. they will merely feed the stupid humans their mental sugar. but i do want to mark the occasion. there is no doubt this is the dumbest and most dangerous thing that mass media has ever concocted. fuck that. wall e fat chair anyone? at least we won’t have to worry about our failing infrastructure anymore. from now on everything we want will be delivered to us by the googoos and the amashams and the hypers and their fleets of super helpful machine slaves. logan’s run, anyone? assuming, of course, some of us make it to the slave labor camps instead of the gas chambers and crematoria.

this time it’s not darkness, it’s chaos

the darkness is one thing. there is a certain anxiety living in me about it. in some ways, however, the place where there is no life offers respite and rest. darkness is a metaphor. if the most fundamental tendency of all matter and energy in the universe is entropy, then darkness is the ultimate fate of all things. there is a certain calmness in that.

chaos, on the other hand, is not calmness. it’s not darkness. it’s everything, all matter and energy, in unorganized motion; frenzy; velocities, momenta, speeds and accelerations of differing intensities, different directions, different vectors; opposite, equal, unpredictable. forces which pull, forces pushing, pulsing, snarling, gnashing; unknowns, knowns; competition, cooperation, community, divisiveness; instability, stability; love, hate; it’s all a jumble.

entropy will overcome chaos, and darkness will overcome entropy. that is the way of things. living things have a dual nature. on the one hand, they want to live, which requires using massive amounts of energy to construct defenses against entropy. in that battle is the chaos. it comes in waves, bursts; sometimes it’s creative, sometimes it’s destructive.

dear me, what’s your advice to me? sincerely, me.

dear me, steel yourself. harden yourself. put on your armor. hold on to something. it’s hurricane season. it’s earthquake season. it’s natural disaster season. it’s the season of civil war. it’s the season of revolution. it’s the season of destruction. no one is there for you. no one is going to save you. there’s no net. you’re going to plummet. grow wings. build wings. fly. fly away. save what you can. sincerely, me.

epilogue. understood. 10-4 good buddy. strapping on my boots and my leather jacket and my hat and my tote full of survival gear and medicines; preparing for this whatever this is. adventure? perhaps. excitement? perhaps. motherfucking roller coaster of emotions and situations? definitely. i am utzi, right now. i hope they don’t betray me, but i expect they will. i expect when i reach the top of the mountain, my enemies will shoot me full of arrows and stab me in the back. who are my enemies? as always, they are the people closest to me, the ones who do their damnedest to convince we they are my loved ones.

oh. and one more bit of advice. don’t bother telling anyone. they won’t believe it anyway. they never do. never. you’ve learned that lesson.

information, music, energy, emotions, domains, patterns of reasoning

what’s energy? nobody knows. we know how it works very precisely. still don’t know what the fuck it is. get over it.

what if the fundamental particle of energy were information?

how does music transfer emotion? use domains to follow the pattern of reasoning.

music (however you define it) is domain 0

domain 1 is the air and the physical transference of vibrations.

domain 2 is the complex of apparatuses used to sense those vibrations.

domain 3 is the nervous system capable of transferring it within the body.

domain 4 is the pattern recognition engine of the brian capable of emotions, interpretation of signals and complex multidimensional analysis.

domain 5 is _________.

go.
